Background: Tom joined NUI Galway in 2003 as a Placement Officer in the Placement Office. He has worked in the work placement area for the last 10 years and is very experienced in recruiting students for work placement and employer engagement. Tom now works as a Placement Officer with the Career Development Centre and is involved in the Employer Relations Team. His work includes placing students, increasing employer engagement through company presentations and CV/ Skills workshops, maintaining existing company relationships and creating new ones.
After graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Limerick Tom worked in BS&B Safety systems as a Sales Engineer responsible for supporting Engineers in representative companies in EMEA region. Prior to working in NUI Galway Tom worked as an Account Manager in Siemens ICN Division working on large telecommunication projects from initial tender preparation to project roll out.
Other qualifications Tom has include an MBA (Master of Business Administration) master’s degree from National University of Ireland Galway. He is a member of Engineers Ireland and AGCAS. He has also received training in interview and CV skills.
Tom also provides 15 minute CV/application advice sessions for students - book through Careers Connect.

Hobbies and Interests: When Tom is not at work he can be found on the golf course trying to play golf. He is a passionate supporter of Munster Rugby & Connacht Rugby and loves nothing better than going to a match in Thomond Park or the Sportsground on the weekend.
